Four teams of enthusiastic participants took their turn onboard the Big Bike for Heart and Stroke, as it toured through downtown Kincardine, Monday, May 4.
The team of Sun Life Financial and Kincardine Realtors rode the 30-seater bike through the pouring rain Monday morning, as did the team of Kincardine District Secondary School's principal, teachers and staff.
Kincardine Home Hardware and Sobeys Kincardine joined forces to ride the bike Monday afternoon when the weather had improved. And later, the team from Magnum Fitness rode the bike.
The teams gathered at Quinn Plaza - the starting and ending point of the ride - where a free soup lunch was provided for all teams, by the Bruce Steakhouse.
The Kincardine ride raised $5,384.05 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation which program co-ordinator Sammy Hoffard says is down significantly from last year. However, everyone had fun, even the teams that had to ride in the rain.
"We truly appreciate the continued support of Kincardine," said Hoffard. "And everyone enjoyed the fantastic hot meal provided by the Bruce Steakhouse. In spite of torrential rain that day, we had teams with spirit and we’re so grateful to them all!"
The Big Bike also travelled to Walkerton, Hanover, Port Elgin, Owen Sound, Dundalk and Thornbury.
