Second annual Ainsdale Golf Classic fund-raiser for local sports, set for Aug. 3

The second annual Ainsdale Golf Classic is slated to run Saturday, Aug. 3, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.

A fund-raiser for Kincardine Minor Sports Associations and Kincardine District Senior School (KDSS) Athletics, the inaugural event last year raised $6,000 for the cause. The goal this year is $10,000.

Organized by Taylor Candler, who owns Ainsdale Golf Course with her husband, Charles, the golf tournament is about giving back to the community, especially the sports groups that supported Taylor when she played golf through high school before going on to Oklahoma University.

The classic is open to 144 golfers, signing up as singles or as foursomes, and will include fabulous raffle prizes, a silent auction, and a steak dinner following the round of golf. The MC this year is Gord Dougan of myFM Radio.

“We had a big elimination draw last year,” says Taylor, “and we had some amazing prizes for the top three. We plan to do that again.”

She says the date was moved back to August in order to catch as many people as possible prior to the start of school. Last year, it was held in September so it did not conflict with the Kincardine Reunion.
