Ripley Horticultural Society youth club learns about birds and frogs

Twenty young people with the Ripley Horticultural Society's youth club learned about birds and frogs at the home of Allard and Tryntje Eisen, Saturday, May 16.

Once they had completed the course, each member received an "I Know My Backyard Birds"  Certificate of Recognition for identifying 20 backyard birds.

The pond, recently occupied by a male green frog and  restocked with fresh frog eggs turned to tadpoles, donated by the Knoop sisters, provided an opportunity to learn about the lifecycle of this amphibian.

In addition, Josie Middelkamp won second prize, while Jaclyne Newman won third for their entries in the Ontario Horticultural Association poster competition.
