KDSS Grades 7 and 8 teams bring home banners from regional soccer tournament

The Grades 7 and 8 girls and boys soccer teams at Kincardine District Senior School, took part in their first tournament, the Lakeshore Regional, Wednesday in Port Elgin.

The girls brought home the championship banner, while the boys took the runner-up banner.

Coached by Cindy Black, the girls won against Arran-Tara, 2-0, and Saugeen District Senior School No. 2, 1-0, in round-robin play. Then the KDSS Knights went on to defeat SDSS No. 2, 1-0, in the semi-finals, and defeated Arran-Tara, 1-0, in a shoot-out in the final, to take the win.

Goals were scored by Jasmine Broere, with Abby Boulton getting the shut-out in net.

Also taking part in the tournament, were Sullivan, G.C. Huston of Southampton and SDSS No. 1.

Coached by Hannah DeBruyn, the boys defeated Sullivan, 5-0, and Arran-Tara, 2-0, in round-robin play. The KDSS Knights then went on to down G.C. Huston, 2-0, in the semi-finals; but lost, 2-0, to SDSS in the final.

Goal-scorers, were Brandon Bishop with six, Terrell Galbraith with two, and Nolan Janes with one.
