Big Brothers, Big Sisters golf tournament raises more than $9,500
The Ladies' Golf for Kids' Sake tournament has raised more than $9,500 for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Kincardine and District.

Held Saturday, Sept. 14, at Black Horse Golf Course north of Lucknow, the ladies-only golf tournament welcomed more than 80 golfers – the most ever, said executive director Yolanda Ritsema.

“Funds raised will off-set programming costs,” she said. “We had a number of amazing prizes donated by local businesses. And this year, we introduced our 'Passport'. Golfers could purchase this passport and it included One Free Throw, One Redo Drive, One Redo Putt, Ball Toss Ball, Tart my Cart Ticket, and One Dice Roll.”

Also new this year, were a number of different competitions for golfers to do on the course: On the Line (sponsored by Fine Fettle), Longest Putt (sponsored by Bruce Power), Longest Drive (sponsored by Home Hardware), Closest to the Hole (sponsored by Bruce Power) , Mystery Hole (Sponsored by Bruce Telecom) and Closest to the Keg (Sponsored by Grey Matter Beer).

Event sponsors included: Lavender Level ($3,000) - Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO); Grape Level ($500) - The Co-operators (bus sponsor); and Plum Level ($200) - MicroAge Basics.

The winning team (pictured at right) included Tania Dickson, Reagan Carruthers, Lyndsay Reid and Meghan Boulton, with a score of 56.
