Tiverton Reunion committee pays back municipal loan, makes donations
This summer's Tiverton Reunion was a great success, and the organizing committee was at Kincardine council Monday night (Dec. 2) to pay back the $20,000 loan for the event, and announce donations to other community groups and organizations.

“Thanks to the council and staff for your support of the Tiverton Reunion,” said Heather Convay, who chaired the reunion with Kelly Glover. “It was a huge success, and we generated a sizable amount of revenue to give back to the community.”

In making their presentation, Convay and Glover were joined by other members of the committee: secretary Robin Fischuk, treasurer Alison Lawrence, and seniors games co-ordinator Karen Ballok.

They presented the $20,000 cheque to mayor Anne Eadie, and then announced about $100,000 in donations including the following:

  • Huron Shores Hospice – 20,000 for a second bed at the Tiverton Park Manor residential hospice
  • Tiverton Firemen's Association - $10,000
  • Victim Services of Bruce Grey Perth - $5,000
  • Tiverton Agricultural Society - $2,000
  • Bruce County Rugby Football Club - $1,000
  • Camp Bucko, in honour of Cody Hayes - $1,000
  • Lake Huron Fishing Club - $1,000
  • Bruce County Historical Society - $1,000
  • Tiverton Lions Club - $1,000
  • Kincardine Legion - $500
  • Knox Presbyterian Church, Tiverton - $500
  • Tiverton Masonic Lodge - $500
  • Tiverton Park Manor, activities program - $500
  • Whitney Crawford Community Centre new build - $53,000

“Outstanding job,” said councillor Bill Stewart. “You did the village proud. Putting on that event is an incredible amount of work.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed the reunion,” said Eadie. “We appreciate all of you for a job well done. You had a vision for this event and it worked out. Thank you for your hard work and dedication.”
