Kincardine Bantams win regional Silver Stick championship
The Kincardine Bantams made an amazing comeback in the third period of the final to win the Kincardine Regional Silver Stick “B” division championship, Monday afternoon, at the Davidson Centre.
The stands were packed as the Kinucks took on the BCH (Bayfield, Clinton, Hensall) Ice Dogs in the final game.
Undefeated in the round-robin and the semi-final, the Bantams gave a lacklustre performance through the first and second periods, heading into the third down, 2-0.
However, they roared back, making it a 2-1 game, just minutes into the period, and then tying it on a goal by Chase Anderson midway through the final frame.
With about five minutes remaining, Tyler Johns scored the winning goal and the Bantams took the championship.
Both goalies, Kwade Beisel of Kincardine and Christian Dejong of BCH, were named Most Valuable Player of the game.
Kincardine captain Myles Courtney accepted the championship banner and the team gathered for a group photo.
The Bantam Kinucks now advance to the North American Silver Stick finals in Forest, Jan. 10-26, 2020.
