Purple Grove news

Thanks to the Ripley Agricultural Society for the delicious spaghetti supper Sunday evening. As usual, the community support was great.

Janet Nixon, Marilyn Reid, Janet Rhody and Deanna Scott attended the Bruce County Women's Institute District Annual in Wiarton, May 28.

Mary Anne Kukoly visited with her cousin, Betty Hedley Carrick, in Owen Sound last week.

Congratulations to Kyle Bridge and Holly Knox on the birth of their first son, Gavin Wesley William, born May 13. First grandchild for Carman and Cheryl Bridge, second great-grandchild for Audrey Rivett and sixth great-grandchild for Viola Bridge.

Congratulations to Michael and Courtney Bridge on the birth of their son, Corbin Eugene Murray, born May 12. A brother for Cassandra; third grandchild for Dennis and Donna Bridge and fifth great-grandchild for Viola Bridge.

Last week, Cheryl Bridge and Mary Beth Kerr attended, and enjoyed, the play, "Innocence Lost," about Steven Truscott.  Congratulations to the cast, director Veronica Davidson, playwright Beverly Cooper, and crew, who did an astounding job, taking us back to a local tragedy through dialogue, film and music spanning June 9, 1959 to Aug, 28, 2007. The play was staged May 21-23 at Sacred Heart High School in Walkerton.

Our sympathy is sent to Marilyn and Don Geddes and family and Bob Geddes of Kinloss, on the passing of their uncle, Elmo Colwell, at North Battleford, Saskatchewan. Elmo's brother, Frank (and wife, Ruby), operated the Kinloss General Store for quite a few years.

Hope to see the Women's Institute ladies at the meeting Wednesday evening at the Community Centre.
