Bulldogs and Wolves in quarter-finals

The Kincardine Bulldogs are at home to the Goderich Flyers tonight (Feb. 14) in Game 5 of their playoff series in the quarter-finals of the Pollock Division in the Provincial Junior Hockey League.

The Bulldogs lead the series, 3-1, after winning Game 1, Feb. 7, in Kincardine, 7-1; losing Game 2, Feb. 8, in Goderich, 2-0; taking Game 3, Feb. 9, in Kincardine, 7-2; and Game 4, Feb. 11, in Goderich, 4-3.

Game 3, Sunday, in Kincardine, saw the 'Dogs open the scoring when Logan Swanton fired in a shot, from Tyler Sutter and Logan Freiburger, early in the first period. Goderich managed to tie it up, 1-1.

Kincardine took a commanding 5-1 lead, with four unanswered goals in the second period. Scoring, were Bryce McFadden from Brett Burrows and Brady Stewart; Freiburger from Swanton and Mike Fiegehen; McFadden from Fiegehen; and Jerrid Fossold from Fiegehen and Swanton.

The Bulldogs captured two more in the final frame, scored by Jacob Traynor from Jake Fair; and by McFadden (his hat-trick goal of the game) from Burrows.

Goderich managed to score one final marker, to end the game 7-2.

Game 4, Tuesday in Goderich, saw Kincardine again opening the scoring on a goal by Fiegehen from Freiburger and Carson England, early in the first period.

Goderich took control in the second period, firing in three unanswered goals, before the 'Dogs got their feet back under them, and scored three goals of their own in the final frame, to take the close 4-3 win.

Scoring the final goals for Kincardine, were Fiegehen with two, from Swanton and then from McFadden; and Fossold from Jeremy Davidson and Burrows.

Tonight's game begins at 8:30 p.m., at the Davidson Centre and could mean the end for the Flyers.

Meanwhile, the Ripley Wolves are tied, 1-1, in their quarter-final series against Durham.

The Wolves won the opening game, 9-2, in Ripley; but lost Game 2, by a close 6-5 score, in Durham.

Game 3 runs tonight (Feb. 14) in Durham, and the Wolves are back on home ice for Game 4, Saturday (Feb. 15) at 7 p.m.

Game 5 runs Feb. 22, at 7 p.m., in Ripley; and if necessary, Game 6 is Feb. 23 in Durham; and Game 7 is Feb. 25 in Ripley at 8:30 p.m.
