Ripley Wolves series against Durham remains tied, 2-2

The Ripley Wolves quarter-final series against the Durham Thundercats remains tied, 2-2, after weekend action in the WOAA senior men's league.

Ripley travelled to Durham, Friday night, and was edged out by the home team, 3-2

Durham opened the scoring early in the first, before Nick Seiler put the Wolves on the board, assisted by Brett Catto.

Ripley went ahead, 2-1, in period two, on a Ben Hughes marker from Catto and Jordan Turcotte, but Durham tied it and then took a 3-2 lead into the final frame, and that's how it ended with no goals scored in the third.

Saturday night, the Wolves hosted the Thundercats at the Ripley Arena, and enjoyed some payback, edging out the visitors by the same 3-2 score.

Durham took a two-goal lead, scoring in the first two periods before the Wolves got their skates under them and started fighting back in the third.

Midway in the period, Keaton Willis scored from Hughes and Tyler McCarthy making it a 2-1 game. Then, in the final 11 seconds of the game, Cody Britton got the tying goal for Ripley, assisted by Brett Catto and Gerrit Satosek, forcing the match into overtime.

Midway through the overtime period, Adam Alexander scored the winning goal for the Wolves, assisted by Turcotte and Garrett Meurs, giving Ripley the game and tying the series at two games apiece.

Ripley hosts Game 5, Saturday (Feb. 22) at 7 p.m.

Game 6 is in Durham, Sunday (Feb. 23).

And, if necessary, Game 7 is back in Ripley Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 8:30 p.m.
