Kincardine unveils new accessibility video
Kincardine council has unveiled a new video, promoting the importance of accessibility and inclusion in the municipality.

Councillor Maureen Couture and accessibility advisory committee chairperson Sharon Woods presented the short video at the council meeting Wednesday night (Feb. 18).

Shot in Kincardine, and starring local residents, it shows how people with disabilities are able to access businesses and restaurants by using a ramp; how they use the pool at the Davidson Centre via a new lift; and how they can reach the auditorium upstairs in the Kincardine Arts Centre in order to enjoy a theatre performance.

Couture said people will be able to view the video on the municipal website and through social media.

A second video will be shot during the summer, she said, promoting the accessibility of many municipal assets during the tourist season.

“We are working tirelessly to remove barriers to accessibility, and create an inclusive community,” says a statement by the accessibility advisory committee. “We are pleased to offer the entire community and the visiting public, the opportunity to fully experience many of our assets, year-round.”
