Readers glad of measures taken in wake of COVID-19; question unfounded panic

RE: “Municipalities cancel programs, close buildings due to Coronavirus concerns”
What an excellent, informative document; thank you for making that public.
Obviously, our area leaders have been working hard to pull these emergency measures together – kudos and thank you to all.
On another level, I am greatly relieved to hear there are no cases of the virus in the area. However, I'm confused too, as earlier today, I was told there were two cases being treated at the Kincardine hospital, and the information came from a source that I believed knew what was going on.
It's strange, but I suppose this type of confusion can happen. Most importantly, is the integrity and honesty in our leadership team.
Thank you again, Liz, for your great work. Stay Safe!

To the Editor:
Dear Liz,
On one hand, I understand why Huron-Kinloss Township and the Municipality of Kincardine have closed the facilities. However, since we don’t have cases of COVID-19 in Bruce County, I feel this is all a bit of unfounded panic.
What are the children supposed to do? They now have three weeks out of school and no organized activities!
I think it will be interesting to see in the coming weeks if there will be an increase in depression, smoking, vandalism or other negative effects. I hope officials have weighed the costs versus the benefits to closing all safe activities for our young people.
