County, Kincardine premature in declaring state of emergency, says councillor
To the Editor:
Bruce County and the Municipality of Kincardine were premature in declaring a state of emergency in response to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.
The Grey-Bruce Health Unit was not recommending this declaration at that particular time.
The message of 14-day self-isolation, social-distancing and washing hands, is very important and needs to be promoted multiple times through various media sources.
Our current situation in Bruce County is being well-managed by our health-care providers, along with support from our provincial and federal governments.
We needed to wait to declare and not add more fear into our community.
