Kincardine should stand behind its own decisions, says reader
To the Editor:
It seems as though the Municipality of Kincardine is not being completely honest with regard to keeping the marina and boat launches closed.
The municipality created a Facebook post informing everyone that the Grey Bruce Health Unit issued an order stating that the shoreline must be closed, including marinas and boat launches.
According to the health unit, there is, in fact, no order stating that the marina and boat launches must remain closed.
Actually the health unit reiterated that the provincial government has lifted restrictions, allowing marinas and boat launches to resume operations, and gave examples of other local boat launches that opened this weekend.
For the municipality to deny access to these amenities that the town has to offer, and blame it on another bureaucracy, is shameful and not truthful.
If the municipality is going to make these decisions, why don’t they (our elected officials) stand behind them instead of hiding behind, and pointing fingers at, the local health unit?
Below, are screenshots of conversations between myself and the Municipality of Kincardine as well as the Grey Bruce Health Unit, backing this claim.
