Lobb receives unanimous support for motion on measures to prevent Alzheimer's
Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb received unanimous support for his private member's motion, Wednesday, in the House of Commons,
MPs from across party lines joined endorsed M-575 which focuses on strengthening measures to prevent Alzheimer Disease and other dementia.
“I would like to thank my colleagues from all parties for their support.” said Lobb. “It’s important that we recognize and stay focused on addressing the needs of individuals living with Alzheimer Disease and other dementia.”
M-575 calls for increasing education and awareness to reduce the stigma associated with dementia. It aims to share best practices among all jurisdictions, while continuing to work in partnership with relevant stakeholders, including families affected by dementia.
It will encourage working relationships with international partners and build upon the partnerships with national leading groups, such as the Alzheimer Society of Canada and the Canadian Consortium on Neurodegeneration in Aging.
It will educate and provide support to families affected by dementia, as well as recognizing the important role that caregivers play.
