Access to public washrooms is another public health issue, says reader

RE: “Reader wonders if Kincardine is returning to the Middle Ages”
As much as we would like to have the beaches open, I am concerned that by encouraging visitors from the bigger centres, we may be inviting new cases of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) to our area.
Nevertheless, if we are going to open beaches, I don’t see how we can possibly not provide access to public washrooms. We would then be opening ourselves up to a public health issue of a different kind.
This morning (June 7), while walking along the boardwalk, I saw a small camper van parked in the area. Bikes were out, camp chairs as well, giving the impression that the occupants were planning to stay for a while.
As I got closer, a gentleman walked out from among the grasses, adjusting his pants and headed to the van. It appeared to me that he would have appreciated being able to use the public washrooms at that spot.
I do hope our local municipalities will be able to find a way to resolve this problem very soon.
Sincerely,
Anne Bromfield
