Queen Street closure is a waste, says Kincardine resident

RE: Queen Street Promenade – closure of Queen Street, from Durham Market North to Lambton Street, on the weekends throughout the summer
I totally understand the idea of the Queen Street Promenade, and we are all coming up with plans on how to best deal with what we have at hand.
This particular idea should have had more guaranteed investment put forth before going ahead.
Where are local products? I see a main street shut down to allow baskets, knives and jewellery to be offered which are FAR from essential.
Where is the fresh produce that the downtown core sorely misses?
Why are local residents not benefiting from this?
Instead, we have confusion about the access to Harbour Street (the tourists you are desperately trying to appeal to, believe it becomes a two-way street during the closure).
The lack of committed LOCAL vendors should bring this to a halt! It is a hazard for necessary vehicle access to all focal points in our town.
We should ALL be wearing masks ... so the 20-metre open space now created is both unnecessary and WHAT A WASTE!
