“Raise the Roof” golf tournament raises $4,000 for Kincardine Curling Club

One might think that Ainsdale Golf Course had been taken over by local curlers, Sunday.

The Kincardine Curling Club held an “early bird” registration there which took place from noon to 2 p.m. Anyone interested in joining the club this season was encouraged to take advantage of the discount that was offered. If you did not take advantage of this special, regular-priced memberships are still available. If interested, but have yet to register, all the information is available at sites.google.com/site/kincardinecurlingclub/home.  

Like last year, regular draws will take place Mondays and Thursdays, with skips' choice going Tuesdays. The OFL will again be Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons. There are other draw options as well, so check out the website.

New pricing has been put into effect, making it more dependent on how many times per week you choose to curl. It will be a different year, for sure, but the board of directors has been working hard at guidelines which will be incorporated to keep everyone as safe as possible during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.

Back to Sunday afternoon at Ainsdale, once the registration had ended, it was time for some fun on the golf course. This was the second annual “Raise the Roof” golf tournament and, again, it was a huge success, raising $4,000. The emphasis was on fun because, after all, this was a FUNd-raiser event.

More than 90 golfers took part in the nine-hole tournament. Several of our sponsors supported this cause and so, in turn, don’t forget to support them.

Prizes for closest-to-the-pin were won by Wayne Morrow, Pat Pringle, Donna Murray and Carolyn Norman. Many other prizes were drawn randomly. A big thank you to all who participated this year and to Charles and Taylor Candler at Ainsdale for hosting us. Good job, all the way around!

See you on the ice come the end of October—hopefully!

The "Raise the Roof" fund-raiser has generated about half of the cost to put a new roof on the Kincardine Curling Club. The project is slated to begin either later this fall or next spring.
