Reader has concerns about Kincardine downtown street closure
To the Editor:
RE: “Kincardine okays downtown street closure for next summer”

During the summer of 2020, I did not go downtown during weekends when the street was closed. I was afraid of being in crowded or highly-populated areas. I would not have gone to my salon downtown.

In future, if the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic is not an issue, I would not have a concern but I do agree that unless there is designated parking for seniors, many will not be able to get to the centre of town. When I was injured recently, I could not have either.

I have a concern that vendors are not charged and do not pay taxes yet have their booths so close to the existing stores. Vendor placement should be at the park or down the middle or the road, well away from the permanent stores that are already paying high rents, mortgages and taxes.

We want everyone to win.
